Who is Milliepie?

Hello everyone who reads this blog!
If you know who I am, Hello again!  If you do not then please allow me to tell you a little bit about me.

I am a simple person who lives a simple life with my husband of almost 20 years.  We have two wonderful boys and two crazy dogs.  A few years ago I happened upon a discussion forum in which it catered to my one obsession... All things Disney.  One year we were thinking of taking a cruise, so of course I began to read everything there was to know about the Disney Cruise Line and all of the tips and tricks to make the most out of my vacation.  I found this wonderful little thread that was all about Magnets for your door where so many wonderful people shared pictures and designs.  I fell in love with the idea and began to play around with some of my own graphics.  At first I thought there was no way I was going to share my creations because they were mediocre at best, but then I decided to just do it.  I was surprised that I actually got some requests for designs.  I loved it, and I loved challenging myself to do new things and come up with cleaner designs.

After a few years I decided that I should really do something with my life because my husband is about to retire from the military and my boys don't need mommy at home all of the time anymore.  I decided to go back to school to finally finish my degree.  I had credits before from my military experience and from taking courses at another University, so it was pretty easy to figure out what I needed to finish.  After one year, I can finally say that I will be a College graduate very soon!  During this time I had to slow down my designing and concentrate on getting good grades.  I have been very successful so far with a 4.0 GPA, and two more classes to graduate.  UPDATE: I graduated with highest honors!  I am now working on my next degree.  I still sneak in some designs now and again, and I wish I could do more, but time just slips away from me sometimes.  I don't know where I'm going with this blog.  Perhaps I will just rant and rave about things, or maybe share some design tips for those who want to learn how to do their own designing.  I want to hear from you!  Leave me a note just to say hello, or ask me a question.  If you have any suggestions for me please feel free to let me know.

I want to thank you for visiting and I hope to see you again soon!

  1. I am so glad to learn your story. Your wonderful designs have added pixie dust to our family Disney cruise with magnet and shirt designs. I especially love the mickey heads that look like other characters and the sports designs. Congratulations on your college accomplishments too!

Thank you for your ongoing generosity!

    1. Thank you so much for your post. I love to hear about, and see all of the wonderful creations that are being made! The Mickey heads are so fun to make. I love challenging myself to come up with new and different things in addition to the originals as well. I hope you have a magical day! xo Millie

  2. I love your designs! I have downloaded some of them and they are a lot of fun on stateroom doors. :o) Out of curiosity, where do you get the artwork you use in your designs? Do you create it all yourself? If so, I am even more impressed! Thanks for the work you've put into your designs. :o)

    1. Thank you! I wish I could say that I created them all by myself. I draw my own Mickey heads, so you might notice size differences and ear placement differences in them, but I add clip art that I find on Disney websites to add to them. Although, I have been creating a lot of my own in the past year because the clip art I need isn't available. I usually do the line art and then use color and texture. It has been working great for me and I like that it is my own work, so I'll probably be doing more of it. Thanks again! xo Millie

  3. You are so generous with your designs. Thank you for letting our Dismeet group use your turkey logo for our upcoming Fantasy Thanksgiving Cruise. You also designed our Midnight Sun Mouseketeers logo for our Alaska cruise in August.

And because I love all things cruise related, I've organized the meet group for the Magic that is headed for a 12 night cruise to the Eastern Mediterranean next July. Four glorious days at sea, interspersed with trips to Rome, Greece, Turkey, etc. Can't wait. We are calling ourselves the Eastern Med Mouseketeers and we're itching to ask you to modify your Magic Mediterranean life preserver design whenever you get a chance. Your school work, however, takes priority (I used to be a college professor before becoming a stay at home mom with twins!)

I can't tell you how many people keep commenting to me how wonderful your designs are. So thank you from so many happy people who benefit from your incredible talent.

    1. It is always a pleasure to help out when I can. It must have been quite an adjustment from thesis statements to peek-a-boo! LOL. I'm acutally enjoying my last two classes. They are not as time consuming and stressful as I thought they were going to be. I find more time to visit the cruise boards and I've even created a couple of new things for myself. (We plan on taking a cruise when I graduate!) I hope you have a fantastic time planning your cruise(s). If you need anything else please don't hesitate to ask. xo Millie

  6. Congratulations on your Degree. Getting one "late" in life, when the world seems to always find a way get in your way, is really the hard way. I love your ability to pull together the art work you do on short notice, and often with little information on what the requester really wants. I keep trying, and am not nearly so successful, but after this next cruise, I'll try to follow your lead.

    1. Thanks for visiting my blog. I haven't really had a chance to get it started, but I hope to have more time very soon! Sometimes I get so overwhelmed, but everyone is always so nice and patient with me. I wish I had all of the time in the world to just sit and design, but unfortunately I don't. I hope you have a great time on your cruise. You are so amazing and wonderful for what you do, you set an awesome example all by yourself.

    Millie,

I am one of the many who have had the pleasure of showing off your DISigns on my kids, and I just happened upon your blog!! In just a few minutes I learned how to do a name fill in Word thanks to you sharing the information!! Fortunately I had a project I needed names for, my DW purchased a Thirty-One door hanger that had four pockets for each of us and it had a name pocket for each one, so of course I had to try and it worked like a charm!! Thank you so much for sharing, I wish you the best with your degree, and I hope you continue to share you talents on the DISboards!!
